Home and more...

Sainte-Sophie, Québec. It is part of the Laurentian Mountains- one of the oldest mountain ranges in the world. Around our area, there are numerous lakes to swim in during the summer months and ski hills for the long winter months.

Here, in Sainte-Sophie, is home for us. On our small land, we have seen deers, foxes, rabbits, racoons, wild ducks, an owl. Once, we noticed paw prints of a bear maybe! Nature in our backyard.

Home. Early winter months.

Paw prints and Alain's shoe prints!

Ten minutes from home, there's a train that takes me to the vibrant city of Montréal where I work. Montréal is the largest city in the province of Québec, and the second-largest in Canada. French is the city's official language. Montréal is the second largest primarily French-speaking in the world, after Paris.

I work as a radiologic technologist in a clinic in Montréal. Mammography is one of my specialties. In simplest terms, I take xrays of the breasts. Not a lot of radiologic technologists choose mammography to be their specialty for many different reasons. It is a very 'touchy' exam. A patient recognized me while I was helping out a colleague do this patient's x-ray. She said, ''I remember you- you did my mammogram! You know, we will never forget who ever touched our breasts!''

The main goal of mammography is early detection of breast cancer. I performed a mammogram on one of my colleagues years ago and she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She underwent though all treatment necessary and she is now fine. The last time I saw her she thanked me and said, 'You saved my life!'. Those were powerful words! Words of encouragement. Words of purpose.

At work.

I developed my love of travelling when I was in college. We had a set of encyclopedia at home and I remember flipping through pages and reading bits of information here and there. But the subject that interested me most were cities and countries and maps! At some point, I challenged myself to memorize the capitals of the all countries in the world. Out of those countries, I made a list of the places I'd want to visit.

Here are some of the places on list where I have seen so far:

Eiffel Tower
Paris, France 2006

The Opera House
Sydney, Australia 2007

Yosemite National Park, California
2013

Golden Gate Bridge
San Francisco, California 2013

Michaelmas Cay
Grand Barrier Reef, Australia 2007

Big Ben
London, England 2011

Stonehenge, England 2011

The Pyramids of Giza
Egypt 2010

The Sphinx 2010

Petra, Jordan 2010

The Treasury
Petra, Jordan 2010

Lake Louise
Alberta, Canada 2012

Lake Morraine

There are so many  interesting places to see in this world. From man made skyscrapers to breathtaking nature!

Travel stimulates senses all at once. From sight-seeing, tasting food, hearing the spoken language, smelling the air and touching souvenirs!

After weeks of experiencing new places though, I long for home. I long for my bed, my kitchen, my living room, my backyard!

I do not feel less of a traveller or less of an adventurer by having a place to call home.
Home might mean routine for some. It means comfort to me and comfort is not a bad thing at all.

I feel extremely blessed for both; to be able go to places and have our humble home to come back to.
